Event Details

The COMPASS Assessment reviews your reading, math and writing skills. COMPASS is required of all new students who have not taken the ACT Exam.  Exceptions are students with prior college experience, guest students, or non-degree seeking students. All nursing majors must take COMPASS. 

 

Frequently asked questions.

What should I do before the assessment?

Complete an application for admission and pay the $20 application fee. Students who have not applied for admission will not be permitted to register for COMPASS.

What should I bring?

You must have your Northwest State student ID number and a photo ID.

Bring a calculator with you.  Graphing calculators are not permitted.

How long does it take?

COMPASS is not timed. Plan on about 1.5 hours to complete the assessment and an additional 30 minutes to meet with an academic advisor to schedule classes.

When will I get my results?

Results print out immediately upon completion of the assessment.

Where do I go for the assessment?

Please report 15 minutes prior to the Admission Office C-106.

Northwest State Community College is a public two-year college that is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. This accreditation allows the College to offer 52 degree and 19 certificate programs in the fields of Arts & Sciences, Allied Health & Public Service, Business Technologies, Engineering Technologies and Nursing.

The college also offers non-credit classes on over 300 subjects. These courses are offered through Custom Training Solutions, a division of Northwest State, and are delivered in face-to-face classes and through the use of distance learning technology. 

Service Area
NSCC service area includes Defiance, Fulton, Henry, Paulding, Van Wert and Williams Counties. The Alternative Engery program is also offered in Lucas County on the Scott Park Campus of The University of Toledo.
